Favicon Animated

Post by Sniper_E »

Extension Name: Favicon

Extension Version: 1.0.1

Author: Sniper_E

Extension Description: Inserts an animated.gif image in your browser's address bar.
For the browsers that do not support animated images a favicon.ico will show. Setup for ACP also.

Extension Download:
favicon_1_0_1.zip

Installation: Copy contents from download to ext/sniper/favicon/ directory - Enable in ACP

Information: The favicon is supposed to be a set of 16x16, 32x32 and 48x48 pictures in ICO format.
You can find many .ico generators online to convert your image into a favicon.ico.
Use one frame from your animated.gif image you are using to create a favicon.ico file.
The animated image and favicon are located in ext/sniper/favicon/images/ directory.
Simply replace the images with your own for your site.

Enjoy!

Perfect, you are a ruler !! :buigen:
Consider in the next versions to allow users to set, in ACP, one favicon in Admin and another in the index....

thanks

You can already do that by naming a different favicon.gif in the acp_overall_header_head_append.html

There will be no updates of this extension. It is all it will ever need to be.

I didn't change the version but I changes some images and added a new one for the acp.

Download Update on First Post. Grab it and update your files, templates and images. Then Clear Cache.

Yes I lied. :whistl: I updated to version 1.0.1 because I had the soft requirements wrong in the composer.json file.

But this ext still works the same.

This ext places a favicon in your address bar and then a animated favicon if your browser is compatible.
And by using an extension for your favicon, updates to phpbb or styles will not change. No edits will be required on updates.

What else would you like for this to do? What are your thoughts?

I could put settings in the acp for your favicon selections but I'd like to keep this simple and to the point.
Set your files up with your favicon image names then upload your images and file. After that forget about it. Your site is set.
