I use Singapore slinger with no issues at all.

What apache version are you using on your server ?

What version of the ext are you using ? 1.0.4 is latest also they will land on your server then within the time you set in acp there booted of to the link you set in acp.

Hey Martin ....Yes got the newest one installed ...here's what I'm running

PHP version: 8.2.17
Database server: MySQL(i) 5.7.23-23
Operating System: Redhat
CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 5318Y CPU @ 2.10GHz 

With time off work I have noticed that these China hits only last 1-2 mins (( Have the time to re-direct in ext set to 1 second ))
Tomorrow I'm going to contact host and see if there is anything they can do. Update is now the China hits are bleeding over to the HG board.
Both are fresh 3.3.11 installs which seems to help. Hits have gone from 500 a day to under 100
Work in progress , not stressing (that much) as both boards have registration disabled

Maybe it's the host you are using for your site. I've never heard of 500 plus bots attacking a site. That's crazy.
Man I have been building servers and setting sites up for over 30 years and I have NEVER had a problem with bots.
Of course I know hackers are wiser than they were 10 or 20 years ago. But still that's a lot of attacks.

Martin installed singapore slinger on my site when he made it but I had no problems with attacks before that.
I thought this slinger was created to block China out is all. But martin would have to educate me on how all this stuff works.
I've setup .htaccess files to block all bots but I have no idea what's in this slinger. Martin wants it so it's in, I step back out of his way... or else.

Until recently, phpbbmodders(net) was getting hit hard daily. Used my hostings Cloudflare's integration and setup WAP Firewall(tools tab). Added the ASN's for the worst offenders, AWS(Singapore), etc. Also turned on their bot attack mode. Since then I stopped receiving CPU usage reports from the host, of 3,4,5 load.

There is an extension for friends or family
to invite.
So you disable the registration
You can see who is invited
And you can accept or refuse it.
