Here is my Dutch translation for the Image Upload Extension for version v200. I hope this will help our Dutch friends.

Sorry, I'm really very confused by this extension. In the ACP configuration settings, it says

Size of upload:
Set size of upload in MB default is 2 MB.
The maximum size your php.ini allows is 1 GB!

In the size of upload box, the preselected value is 2, but when I point to the box, it says

Please select a value that is no more than 1.

That makes no sense. The default size is 2 MB, the preselected value is 2, and yet, if I leave that value as it is and just change the other settings, enabling all the things you can enable, like images on index for example, if I try to click submit, the message

Please select a value that is no more than 1.

pops up again. I can't submit unless I change the preselected value of 2 to 1. So now I'm restricted to a size of 1 MB, even though the default size is 2 MB, and the maximum size allowed by my php.ini is 1 GB. This makes no sense.

You answered yourself.
Your php.ini is set to 1MB so it will over ride this extension's default 2MB or anything you try to set.

You would have to raise the php.ini to 2MB then you could select 2 in this extension

I just read again what you posted slowly and understood it all. You are confusing yourself. It all makes since to me.

It says MB default is 2 MB, OK?
That means in this extension the default is 2 MB and the preselected value is 2 MB.

Your php.ini file is set to a maximum size of 1 MB, OK?
That means you can not set the maximum image size anywhere larger than 1 MB.

The default size in this extension or in any other extension can not be set higher than your php.ini has set.
You would have to have your php.ini maximum size set to 2 MB to not have this issue. What am I not getting here?

I was seeing that 1 GB as 1 MB as you witnessed... not only the first time but the second time also.
After my overlook you came back with this, not once but twice even after my 2nd overlook.
Bruce Banner wrote: 28 Nov 2023, 19:34Look again at what I said.
If you would have came back with this after my first overlook then we wouldn't be in this spot.
Bruce Banner wrote: 28 Nov 2023, 19:34No, the maximum size allowed by my php.ini is 1 GB not 1 MB.
So perhaps someone else will read what it is I actually said and give you a hand. Yea, good luck with it. I hope you get it all straighten out.

as if I was an idiot. Someone speaks to me as if I'm an idiot, I'm not then gonna just point out to them what it is they misread. I'm gonna tell them to read again what I said, and again, you misread, and again, spoke to me like I'm an idiot

twice.

And now you speak to me as if I should be the one apologising.

PS I notice you never bothered to thank me when I pointed out that error in the code of your UCP Sidebar extension, nor have you corrected the error. You're welcome. I won't ever be contacting you again.

Most hosts allow 2mb upload as default so this ext is coded for 2mb upload. An php.ini dont read gb's it reads mb's.

Your host allows 1mb upload you can over-ride this in your php.ini file.

So max upload size is 2mb on ext but your server is set for 1mb this means in short there is a twist and to fix it you can add things like this to your php.ini on the server or you can add your own php.ini file in your root of your phpbb file system and use some of these in it.

Code: Select all

date.timezone= Europe/London
allow_url_fopen = on
allow_url_include = Off
register_globals= Off
display_errors= On
post_max_size= 99999M
memory_limit= 2048M
upload_max_filesize= 999999M
expose_php=Off
session.save_path="/tmp"
magic_quotes_gpc= Off
magic_quotes_runtime= Off
magic_quotes_sybase= Off
max_input_vars= 5000
max_execution_time = 259200
max_input_time = 259200
default_socket_timeout = 3600
max_user_connections= 45

Thanks very much for the help. I understand now. I was thinking it might have something to do with something reading GBs as MBs. Thanks again.
