No this is just a bbcode link this has nothing to do with downloads or uploads.

You can upload files via ftp and use this to link it or you could use the file upload ext that gives you a link.

Exaple File hosted by Martins-phpbb.com << nothing to download on that link

I need a ext (or BBcode) that gives a user the ability to download a file outside the attachment system that's built into phpbb

It might not work for what I'm trying to do then (Did notice DM is using it here also)

Am trying to use the file upload ext for mp4 (video) server.

User uploads mp4 file and gets the url for it. And then embeds the url in a post (( Everything in this part works great ))
But i also want to include a way to d/l it. Right now it only plays with no d/l link

Yes Martin ...using the file upload ext along side with this....in the past ( a few versions back ) I went the FTP route but figured the file upload ext would be a bit more secure. I have not tested with FPT as I was trying to stay away from it.

EDIT: Just tested with ftp ...same thing

Thanks guys ...got it working! :)

ALMOST
Was able to get the d/l box to show , but when you go to d/l the file
it plays the mp4 file instead of starting a download for it Any ideas
how to fix this?

And on a side note
Seems to be a conflict with the posting buttons extension:
On my test board the drop-down menu for the different color boxes is displayed.
On the live board it is not. I disabled the posting button ext and the drop-down menu
is displayed. Go back and enable posting buttons and the drop-down menu goes away

It was a browser issue like i thought ....here is the fix for FIREFOX ONLY:


Fixed now For FIREFOX only:
In URL box (where you would type in a website URL , put this in:
about:config
It's gives a warning that you accept and a new screen pops up
scroll down to: media-play-stand-alone (it's a big list!)
Default is set to TRUE ...toggle to FALSE and you will then be able to
download mp4 file!
